What to do in Waco, which is midway between Dallas and Austin along I35? I tell you, not much if you don't know where to go. But if you do, you'll know that Waco has plenty to offer.
My favorite activity is to camp and bathe by the lake. And at night, to go up and down Valley Mills bd. where much of the night life happens. Bars close at 11 or 12 pm as far as I've seen; consequently, get ready to start the party time earlier too. You will also love Cameron Park, its zoo, they are well worth it. You may also go horse back riding along the Brazos River and bathe at the Waco Water Park located on Lakeshore Drive.
Wacoans love their police department and most of them have very orderly lives. The Texas Ranger Hall of Fame attests of this. Also, a great many people have a very active spiritual life, Baptist or Methodist for most of them. I counted over 150 places of cult there, some of them no bigger than a simple room.
There are some museums like the Dr.Pepper museum, the Sports Hall of Fame, the Mayborn museum ... And don't miss at Baylor University the Browning Library. If you have a little time, walk around and enjoy the Waco Victorian architecture on the campus and in the area.
Dining wise, I would suggest the Brazos Belle, which must have replaced the Brazos Queen, a romantic setting for couples.
